During a busy weekend in Saskatoon, we had our interviews, were offered a contract, accepted the contract, and signed them!
At the end of September (Departure date pending...) we will be heading off to Cheongju (not to be confused with Chungju...), South Korea! Cheongju is right smack dab in the middle of Korea and is about 270 km from Seoul, just a bus/train ride away! It is considered a small town at approximately 600,000 people! If you want to find out more about the city where we'll be living check out this website: http://english.cheongju.go.kr/ (they have a list of hotels in the city, for anyone who is interested in visiting!)

The school we will be teaching at is called Worwick Franklin school. There is a total of 5 other foreign teachers (including us) working at the school. While we're there we will be teaching Kindergarten and Elementary kids. Kindergarten is in the morning and Elementary is in the afternoon. I'm sure there will be lots of more posts about teaching and the kids when we actually get there!
This whole process has been a lot of quick moves, and then a lot of waiting, and then quick moves and decisions, and more waiting. Right now, we're in another waiting stage... Just before the long weekend Brian and I received our Visa Issuance Numbers (VIN'S) from Korea and were able to mail off our passports and visa applications to the Korean consulate in Vancouver.
You're supposed to go into the consulate to have a visa interview, but because we live so far away, they allowed us to make a self-introductory DVD. This was not a fun process... After struggling and fighting with our brand new camcorder for more than an hour we gave up and ended up filming the 6 and a half minute videos on our little digital camera! Needless to say, there was a ton of takes, but the videos eventually turned out! Instead of boring everyone and posting the actual DVD's (although they are incredibly embarassing!), we made a blooper reel which is a bit more entertaining! Which I will hopefully, cross your fingers, figure out how to upload in the next day or so!
Anyways, now we are waiting to hear back from the consulate that our visa's are all good and we should be getting our passports (with our visa stamp included!) in the mail in 1-2 weeks! Until then, it is more waiting and more prep!
When we have more details we will be sure to make a new post!
Until then, All the best!
Brian and Robyn!
